From the renowned company that created the Swiss Army Knife a century ago comes the Champion Plus, a complete set of tools for campers, hikers, hunters, fishers, picnic enthusiasts, and people all trades--all neatly contained in a single implement. Measuring just 3-1/2 inches long, the Champion Plus is stylishly cased in the famous red Swiss Army body that's recognized around the world. More importantly, the pocket knife contains 30 stainless-steel tools appropriate for just about any occasion. The standard camping tools include a large blade, a small blade, a corkscrew, a can opener, a bottle opener, a small screwdriver, a large screwdriver, a Phillips screwdriver, scissors, tweezers, and a toothpick. And that's just the beginning, as the Champion Plus also offers a punch reamer, multipurpose hook, wood saw, fish scaler, and hook disgorger. In short, there's no better accessory for camping, hunting, and fishing trips.
Should the basic tools not cut it, the Champion Plus steps up with a host of extras, including a metal file, metal saw, fine screwdriver, mini screwdriver, and chisel scraper. Add in such tools as a ruler, nail file, nail cleaner, magnifying glass, pressurized ball point pen, straight pen, sewing eye, and key ring and you're well equipped for everything from repairing holes in tents to reading the fine print on instructions.
As with all Victorinox items, the Champion Plus is made to exacting standards, with 60-plus individual parts and 450 steps going into its construction. Victorinox attends to every detail, from selecting the finest materials to performing the final inspection. In addition, each individual tool has been hardened in a different way to stand up to its designated use. Such care is unmatched, and is why the Champ series is recognized by such international experts as the New York Museum of Modern Art and the State Museum of Applied Art in Munich, both of which have selected it for their "excellence in design" collections. Outfitted with a nylon handle and an aluminum housing, the Champion Plus carries a lifetime warranty.
Ultimate Knife Ive taken this knife on two camping trips so far and it has proven to be an necessary tool. This is replacing a "Camper" model (Thanks TSA!). I probably would have upgraded to this model anyway.
Tools I have used: The saw it really rips through branches the file both blades the can opener corkscrew scissors the "hook thingy" (handy for carrying bundles of firewood) and the Phillips screwdriver. I anticipate using all the features eventually. This knife has earned a permanent home in my car. Much like the old credit card ads: "Dont leave home without it!"
Its size allows for pocket carrying barely. I wouldnt want to carry it all day every day but when I need to carry it it can be in my pants pocket comfortably.
I have been a life long user of Victorinox knives and highly recommend this for anyone considering it. Buy it you cant go wrong! : 2010-09-18 00:46:08
The MacGyvers Knife Since I saw the series during my childhood I have always known the Swiss-Army knife as the MacGyvers Knife. I bought it as one of the items recommended to carry along during a long strenous hiking trip. It is probably not very accurate to call this thing a knife but close enough since it also has a flat-head and phillips screwdrivers a can and bottle opener a hook a small magnifying glass a saw and a saw-straight-edge combo. One problem I notice is that because there are so many items packed in one piece some of the items are hard to be brought out. It takes some effort to pull them out of the slot where they are embedded in. Be careful when pulling an item while some other sharp items nearby have been pulled out already since you might accidentally cut yourself as I have done at least once. I also noticed the users guide seems to imply that there is a plier included but somehow I have not found it. There are a few more accessories shown as separate pieces that I did not receive; what : 2010-09-15 05:20:39
More than just a knife There are a lot of useful tools included on this knife (see the product description) but I find the nice sharp knives small Phillips screwdriver functional scissors (really) wood saw and ball point pen to be the most heavily used. These are all great tools and have saved me a lot of time and trouble when the need arose. I like this knife so much that we ordered 2 more to give as gifts. Highly Recommended! Having the Champion Plus Pocket Knife is like carrying a small toolbox in your pocket. It is a little too big to haul around for everyday use but it is great to have when hiking or doing small jobs around the house. This is a well made solid Swiss Army knife that will give years of service.

Invaluable to have around Not much to say except that a Swiss Army knife is a darned handy thing to have around and that the Victorinox brand is well worth the slight increase in cost over no-name brands. This is the first big SAK Ive bought in many years; a hotel chambermaid made off with my old one. This model doesnt have the pliers but I often have a Leatherman around also and it *does* have the scissors which are darned handy more often than I would have expected. The Victorinox line--at least every one Ive owned and thats a handful--are exceedingly well made and with a little care will last a LONG time (unless you hit a hotel with a crooked chambermaid.) Ive got at least one of these or some combination of a SAK and a Leatherman in my satchel when Im working and in my camera bag when Im on vacation. How could you live without one? : 2010-09-15 05:20:39
